<p>"Machini-wa Hibarigaoka" is an area management project in a housing complex developed on redeveloped site. This study conducted a questionnaire survey on the project of the residents, and clarified how the project had affected the community and what kind of issues the project would face. The paper pointed out that there was a difference of perception for the necessity of area management activities among residents, which could depend on social and special contexts.</p>

<p>In order to regenerate a housing complex, one of the effective method is area management. This paper intends to possibilities of community organizing in the initial stage of area management. We interviewed the members of volunteer team in Hibarigaoka-danchi complex. Main findings are as follows.<br>1. One factor of the volunteer activity is an attachment to the area, then it is necessary to growing local love.<br>2. The amount of activity have to be depended on the individual discretion, and sharing of information is important.<br>3. The business person must show residents the goal and methods of area management.</p>

<p>In Japan, early models of light-gauge steel prefabricated houses were developed in 1960's. This study aims to investigate the structural properties of those two models: one is "style-A" and the other is "style-B" which is an improved version of style-A. A series of on-site survey was carried out to measure the dimensions of structural frames and the obtained information was summarized as structural drawings. An elastic structural analysis was carried out to compute stresses, deflections and story drifts in structural frames subject to the design loads, and the structural property of each model was discussed.</p>
