「厭離」「穢土」「欣求」「浄土」の語は、元は別々の仏教語だった。それを源信僧都が『往生要集』の冒頭に章の見出し語として熟語にした。本論文では、源信が、先行の経典類からどのように言葉を選び、どのように新しくこの語を創ったのかについて、主に論じた。

『法華経義疏』は、法華経について唐6世紀の僧吉蔵が解説したものであるが、高山寺蔵のこの本には、それを日本の12世紀に読んだ形跡がある。その形跡を基に、なるべく正確に当時の読みを再現した上で、電子テキストとしても広く日本語研究に役に立つ形で、資料として公開したものである。

『宝物集』には、『往生要集』からの引用が多くある。
元の『往生要集』の文とその引用文とを比較することによって、『宝物集』が、どのような形の『往生要集』を参照し、取り込んだかがわかる。この巻では、『宝物集』7巻における引用の状態を細かい書き違いなどから考察し、『宝物集』執筆時に『往生要集』は書物としては参照されていないことを検証した。
