化学架橋PVAゲルを乾燥させるとゲル内に微結晶が形成される。この試料を濃度の異なるDMSO／アセトン混合溶媒中に順番に投入して平衡膨潤比を測定した。結果、最初の膨潤・収縮過程では膨潤比が履歴を伴い不可逆的に変化したが、それ以降の膨潤・収縮過程では可逆的に変化した。これは、ゲル内の微結晶の崩壊と再形成によって説明された。

公立中学校2年生と、教員養成系学部1年生を対象に、電流電圧の理解に関する実態調査を実施した。結果、単純回路に流れる電流や直列回路・並列回路の電圧等、ごく基本的な内容を理解できていない生徒や学生が相当数いることがわかった。電流や電圧の概念を正しくとらえることは容易ではなく、素朴概念が強固に残る場合があることを示した。
