<p>In this study, visual working memory was assessed using nonverbal "accuracy," in contrast to typical memory research, which is usually based on "right/wrong" answers. We analyzed the relationship between dynamic control of pen-use and pointing accuracy using a tablet liquid crystal device (LCD). Healthy participants held a pen equipped with a triaxial accelerometer in each hand. Using the dominant hand, they targeted a point at the center of a "diamond" formed by the intersection of two 4×1 cm rectangles tilted 45° to the left and right, respectively. The rectangles were quasi-randomly displayed at various locations on the LCD with time lags. The working memory accuracy was defined as the standard deviation of the distance between the absolute and surmised centers. The evident result indicated that the pen-dynamics (4-100 Hz) of the dominant hand started to increase for action readiness then decayed for the last 3 s during a 4-s interval (waiting period). Furthermore, the ability to sustain power for 100-200 Hz correlated with decrease of pointing deviation (i.e., increased working memory accuracy). We also discuss the relationship between our results and other memory theories, including those derived from rodent studies.</p>

In this paper, we proposed the design method of myoelectric prosthetic hand for partial hand amputees to substitute function of the movement of the disarticulating finger and to utilize a function of the movement of remaining fingers. Problems for designing myoelectric prosthetic hand for partial hand amputees exists in mechanical system design and control system design. In the problem of mechanical system design, a socket is designed so as to fit a shape of amputation stump, and a grasping mechanics is contained within an appearance of healthy hand shape by using measured 3D data of healthy hand based on the framework of digital engineering. The control system is designed to extract the only electromyogram related to moving the disarticulating finger from measured all electromyogram by using the neural network, and electromyogram has been successfully applied to control a motorized hand. Next, we prototyped myoelectric prosthetic hand with the proposed design method. Finally, availability of grasping and manipulation of the prototype was evaluated and contained by using the Pick-and-place experiment.

<p>Ascertaining a person's motion intentions through muscle activity is important for controlling various assistive devices for people with disabilities. Several techniques have been proposed for estimating the extent of intended joint angle motion using skin deformation information derived from muscle contractions. The objective of this study is to verify our signal processing procedure for estimating intended wrist joint angle with skin deformation information in able-bodied subjects and subjects with an upper-limb amputation. Skin deformation was measured with a tactile sensor consisting of 48 distance sensors over a large measurement area. The root-mean-square error (RMSE) of the measured and estimated angles are evaluated offline using multiple linear regression in one individual with an upper-limb amputation and five able-bodied participants. In all tests, subjects undertook a wrist flexion and extension task guided by visual feedback, measured in real time. Sensors are selected in descending order of the standard deviation of each sensor's value. Strong relationships occur between the position and displacement of the area of greatest skin deformation and the intended wrist joint angle in all subjects. The minimum RMSE was 8.19° for the individual with an upper-limb amputation using 48 sensors as input, and 2.24° for able-bodied individuals using 16 sensors. One-way repeated-measures analysis of variance showed that at least 16 sensors are needed to reliably record skin deformation. Skin deformation analyzed with multiple linear regression is a plausible means of estimating intended wrist joint angle in persons with an upper-limb amputation. Even when a limited number of sensors (≥16) are used, continuous joint angle can be estimated reliably. These findings will inform the design of assistive devices that must noninvasively determine muscle activity.</p>

本論文は,急性期脳梗塞患者に対する歩行中の機能的電気刺激FESが運動学的・運動力学的歩行パラメータ及び内側感覚運動皮質のヘモグロビン濃度に及ぼす即時的影響の検証に関する論文である.結果FESは麻痺側立脚期の支持性向上や麻痺側立脚後期のroll-off機能向上といった歩行パターンを変化させ,さらに非損傷側mSMCの過剰な脳活動を抑制している可能性が示された。

本論文は,低侵襲で計測可能な硬膜下電位(サル)を用いて,上肢運動(捕食)の4状態を判別し,安定してロボットアームを制御するための方法論について執筆された論文である.判別には線形判別分析を用いアームを安定的に制御するため,判別結果列の生起頻度から遅れ時間と誤判別を最小化する閾値を決定することで安定動作を実現した。
