    西部北太平洋遷移帯海域におけるクラゲ群集の時空間分布構造を2年にわたる研究船調査から明らかにした。種組成は水深300-500m、すなわち北太平洋中層水を境に浅い層と深層との境界が認められた。深層では全ての観測点で(個体数は少ないが)通年多くの分類群が出現した。優占種についてはその日周鉛直移動を調べた。親潮域のクラゲ類個体数は遷移帯や黒潮域よりも遥かに高かった。種の多様性は黒潮属流域で高く、暖温帯性種がそれを支えていた。クラゲ類の生物量は中層で高く、これは大型の鉢クラゲ類の出現が効いていた。炭素量ベースの生物量は他の生物グループを凌駕していた。
