<p>This paper is a re-evaluation of a completed project (High Efficiency Demonstration Grant Using High Voltage SiC Device) from the perspective of accurate efficiency measurement; additionally, this paper discusses on device dv/dt estimation. A topology called the high-efficiency energy conversion system (HEECS), which is one variety of partial boost circuit topologies, is introduced to achieve efficiency over 99.5%. The topology exhibits a very high efficiency for applications in which the output voltage variation is within a certain ratio of the rated output voltage. This paper summarizes the basic features of the topology and theoretically derives the principle of high-efficiency realization. The high efficiency is measured by the back-to-back(BTB) connection of two converters, and the efficiency and accuracy on this method are theoretically derived and confirmed using the measured data of 3.3 kV output voltage at 100 kW output. The theoretical estimation of dv/dt for a 3.3 kV SiC device to reduce dual-active-bridge(DAB) soft-switching loss is discussed. Furthermore, a trend of DC-DC conversion efficiency is shown, and we show that the partial boost topology is a promising approach for achieving high efficiency dc-dc conversion.</p>

<p>This study discusses a multilevel cascaded linear amplifier that includes multiple H-bridges. The amplifier operates the MOSFETs in the switch mode and active state. The MOSFETs in the switch mode change the voltage level to reduce the ripple voltage, which is filtered using the MOSFETs in the active state. Thus, the conversion efficiency of the amplifier is improved. The MOSFETs in the switch mode also control the charging state of the capacitor on the DC-side of each H-bridge to maintain the DC capacitor voltages. The amplifier can perform real power conversion with one DC voltage source as it can regulate the DC capacitor voltage of each H-bridge. Moreover, DC capacitor voltages are regulated at various values to further reduce the ripple filtered by MOSFETs in the active state. Lastly, DC capacitor voltage control was verified through a experiment using three H-bridges, and the measured conversion efficiency of the amplifier with unequal DC capacitor voltages was 87.9%.</p>

<p>In this study, a virtual transformer-based loss measurement method is proposed for inverter power conversion efficiency measurements, and the accuracy of this method is theoretically analyzed. This concept is further extended to a practical measurement procedure, wherein asynchronous loss measurements are conducted for powering and regenerating operations using a single set of measurement instruments. The average efficiency can be obtained with a very high accuracy after calibration of the measurement instruments. A high-efficiency system inverter was selected as the converter under test, and its efficiency and accuracy were experimentally measured and validated. An efficiency of 99.75% ± 0.006% was obtained at an output of 1600W.</p>

<p>A DC-AC conversion efficiency of over 99.7% is experimentally measured using a two battery high efficiency energy conversion system (HEECS) inverter. The accuracy of the efficiency measurement is evaluated by two methods: the direct measurement method and the loss breakdown method. After several measurements, calculations and analyses it is concluded that the measurement error based on the loss breakdown method is 0.04%.</p>

<p>One-cycle current deadbeat and half-cycle current deadbeat are implemented to a two-phase interleaved DC-DC buck converter. It is confirmed that output voltage driven and outputted by half-cycle current deadbeat is more stable. When the capacitance of LC filter was reduced 3.22µF to 1µF, rise time, step-up duration of 40V to 120V, is shortened to 10.3µs significantly.</p>
