気候変動の影響を緩和するため、日本や欧米は2050年までに温室効果ガス排出量を実質ゼロにするという目標を掲げている。この野心的な目標の達成には、化石燃料を用いる火力発電を、再生可能エネルギー(再エネ)による発電に置き換えることが有効となる。そこで本研究は、これまでに日本で導入された再エネが、どれだけCO2の排出量を削減したのかを明らかにする。本研究は、昨年度から公開された高頻度のミクロデータを用いることで、時間的・空間的に変化する再エネのCO2排出削減効果を日本で初めて実証する。

本研究は脱炭素社会の実現を目指して、電気工学と経済学の文理融合研究によって再生可能エネルギーの大量導入を可能にする電力システムのあり方を、理論的・実証的・国際比較制度分析によって明らかにする。本研究は、再エネの大量導入を可能にする電力市場の経済分析に注力し、オリジナルな研究成果を国際発信していく。具体的には、(1)再エネ市場統合、(2)電力市場、(3)電力系統の3本柱を立て、これまで困難とされてきた日本の電力システムにおける再エネ大量導入が可能なことを、工学的・経済学的に立証する。また、公正な競争環境を備えた電力市場の設計こそが、再エネの大量導入を可能にすることを実証的に証明する。
