In this study, the studies of texture evolution and dislocation density in Al-Mg alloys during uniaxial tensile deformation was performed by the neutron diffraction experiment. During tensile deformation under low strain rate (1.33 x 10-5 s-1), the (001) and (111) duplex texture was observed in Al-Mg alloys. The differences of pole density at (001) and (1 1 1) orientations depend on the content of Mg addition. The (001) deformation texture was developed from initial (001) cube texture, especially observed in the alloys with low Mg addition and pure Al sample. In alloys with high Mg addition, the development of (1 1 1) texture was clearly presented. An increase in Mg addition induced larger dislocation density during the deformation in a correlation with the formation of (1 1 1) deformation texture.

A newly developed single BCC phase 30Nb5Ta30Ti15V20Zr refractory high entropy alloy (RHEA) has been designed for low density, high mechanical properties, and superior fretting wear resistance. In this study, we focus on the study of the fretting wear resistance in a comparison with Ti6Al4V alloy. The 30Nb5Ta30Ti15V20Zr demonstrated the better fretting wear resistance with low friction coefficient and wear loss. The phase constituent, crystal structure and mutual interaction of complex composition in 30Nb5Ta30Ti15V20Zr contribute to improving the fretting wear resistance. The superior fretting wear resistance increases candidacy potential of the 30Nb5Ta30Ti15V20Zr RHEA for structural applications, especially under fretting conditions.

In this study, a microstructure of moderately deformed 1 %C-doped CoCrFeNi complex concentrated alloys (CCA) was investigated in a correlation with microstructure evolution at different annealing temperature for 1 h. After 60 % thickness reduction of cold rolling, the dislocation density accumulated as large as 19 x 1015 m-2. The interstitial carbon atom was a key factor inducing large dislocation storage and caused large stored strain energy of 368 J/mol. The recrystallization was completed at 1173 K for 1 h and the average re-crystallized grain size was as fine as 3.7 mu m. During the annealing between 973 and 1173 K, the carbides were increasingly precipitated with an increase in annealing temperature. The carbon addition delayed the recrystallization process due to solute drag effect and carbide precipitations. The conventional fabrication method produced the fine recrystallized microstructure attributed to the large dislocation density of the deformed microstructure and carbide precipitation.(c) 2022 Elsevier B.V.
