1961年大分県生まれ。1990年東京藝術大学大学院博士前期課程技法材料研究室修了。
溶かした蜜蝋と顔料で描く古代の絵画技法であるエンカウスティーク。その技法研究において第一人者でもある赤木範陸氏の、日本橋三越での初めての個展を開催いたします。
本展では日本の象徴でもある富士と、信仰の対象としての不二・日本の不死と掛け、疫病退散、一切無障碍(しょうげ)の願いと共に、これまで手がけてきた静物画や人物画と合わせて展覧をいたします。

この度高島屋では赤木範陸(瓊血)展を開催します。先生は、1990年に東京藝術大学大学院博士前期課程を修了。在学中にドイツ学術交流会によりドイツ政府給付生としてミュンヘン国立芸術大学に留学、2000年前の蜜蝋絵画術を色を使わずに用いる方法で、モダンと悠久の美を表現し高い評価を得ています。2019年、日本芸術に影響えを与えた1000年前の中国水墨画を、麻布に染み込んだ蜜蝋の濡れ色の技法に置き換え、なずけられた蠟散水を中国に滞在制作し、国立寧波美術館とヤンファン美術館にて発表。日中交流の歴史に位置付けられる個展として中国国内にて大きく報道されました。今展では、この流れの一環として蠟山水を中心とした作品群を一堂に展観致します。

序、
在这次展览中，我展出的作品是在亚麻布，上加入了蜂蜡，在加 热融化后呈现出的湿润的色彩。布被水沾湿后颜色会变暗，同样， 被蜡浸泡过后的亚麻布颜色也会变暗 ; 水墨的浓度会让明暗发生 变化，渗入的蜡量也会让阴影部分发生变化。所谓蜡山水画就是用 蜂蜡绘制的山水画。
蜂蜡起源于古罗马时期。它是一种古老的绘画材料。在德国 留学时，我专攻于西方古典技法，并将其带回日本。而宋朝的水墨
山水画也经由千年前中国的禅宗传授入日本。水墨山水画用单色 的水墨绘制出大气的山水，进而去感受宇宙的精神。本次展览是我 在学习借鉴了中国古代的水墨山水画和西洋绘画材料后，进行绘画 的当代性尝试和实验的成功之作。
宁波是日本和中国文化交流的窗口。因此，我今天能在宁波美 术馆举办这样展览，具有特殊的历史意义。

日本の美術史においてその美意識と技術に大きな変遷を遂げる明治期に、特に近代日本画の成立に大きく影響を及ぼした岡倉天心の生涯を通して、日本美術院の設立と天心の指導によって開花していった当時の日本画壇の大観、春草らの作品に見る朦朧体と呼ばれるヨーロッパの空気遠近法由来の技法などを多くの写真資料と小林古径の真筆画によって解説した。
