過酸化水素の水溶液中での発熱分解反応、中でも塩化物イオンが共存する条件下での銅（Ⅱ）イオンによる触媒反応において、反応開始から暴走反応に至る前に呈する一見緩やかな反応状態に着目した。反応中に凝集物の発生を伴った酸性度の変動が見られた。逆に、酸性度を調節することで誘導期の制御ができた。誘導期発生因子である塩化物イオン（および塩化物イオンから反応の過程で生じる次亜塩素酸イオン）・酸性度を反応中に急激に変化させ、反応挙動を測定したところ、反応の進行に抑制の効果があり、誘導期発生時に行う反応暴走の回避策が得られた。
煙火組成物の劣化挙動の解析と評価

煙火組成物として用いられている過塩素酸アンモニウム（AP）と塩化マグネシウムの混合物を用いて、制御された湿度環境下での劣化挙動を測定・検討した。体積増加と共に密度増加が見られ、体積膨張速度以上に吸湿による重量増加速度が大きく、微小なクラックが吸湿によって生成していることが分かった。また、吸湿によるAP分解開始温度の上昇が観測され、吸湿の燃焼性能への影響が生じることが考えられた。また、着火し燃焼が継続したが劣化前試料と比較して燃焼速度の低下が見られた。
