This study used a mixed method analysis to clarify the process of reducing learners' food waste in accordance with the home reduction behavior. This is based on the qualitative data of learners' impressions, which were collected during the evaluation of the food waste learning program.Results show that this program could strengthen the intrinsic motivation to acquire cooking skills by deepening one's social awareness of food waste and cooking skills, and the internalization of consumer citizen values. It became clear that learners can develop an independent action attitude. The problem-solving cooking practice suggests a learning process by which a physical understanding of social issues is created and feasibility evaluation, self-affirmation, and elation for food waste reduction actions are expressed.

<p>The purpose of this study is to compare some details of environmental education (EE) implemented in schools and identify the differences between such programs in Japan and Korea. In particular, the study examines the difference brought about by the presence or absence of an independent subject. This is because previous studies reveal that Korean schools have an independent subject named Environment, however, its adoption rate is low. The study examines the following aspects to clarify the status of EE in Japanese and Korean schools: first, classes related to the environment that are offered in the two countries; second, specific details of the national curriculum for EE as an independent subject taught in Korea; and, third, the diffusion system surrounding schools in Japan and Korea. Consequently, it is suggested that having an independent subject makes it clear that even if its adoption rate is low, it contributes to clarifying the identity of EE (concept, learning, <i>etc</i>.).</p>

<p>The Consumer Education Promotion Act, enacted in 2012, explicitly refers to fostering consumers who contribute to the formation and development of a "consumer citizen society," which progressively participates in building of a sustainable society. In addition, it proclaims <i>sustainable consumption</i> as one of its keywords. In this respect, its intersection with the LCT(Life Cycle Thinking)-based environmental education seems to have become apparent. With this in view, this paper looks at domestic and international trends to clarify the current state of the position of LCT environmental education in consumer education.
