本研究では、英語授業でのコミュニケーション活動内における適切な明示的文法指導のタイミングが、学習者の正確な文法運用力に効果があるかを検証する。さらに文法項目の複雑さや学習者の個人差に応じて、最適な明示的指導のタイミングも提案する。現行の英語教育の現場ではコミュニケーション活動に文法指導が効果的に統合されていないケースが見受けられる。本研究では、コミュニケーション活動の事前・事後、または活動中に文法指導を適切に行うことの効果を文法項目の複雑さに応じて検証し、教室での指導に有益な提案も行いたい。
