    第一編 3-[5] 「希土類金属錯体系重合触媒の進展」を担当。
    従来の重合触媒は,4族金属を含む触媒を中心に研究が進められてきた。3族金属であるスカンジウムやイットリウム触媒を用いた研究は限られていたが,これらを含む触媒を独自の発想に基づいて設計し,それを触媒として用いることにより,従来法よりも環境にやさしい方法により,様々な高品位なポリマーを合成することに成功した。

    アミンと一酸化炭素の反応によるホルムアミドの合成は,従来の触媒では高温・高圧の過酷な条件下で反応を行う必要があったが,希土類金属触媒を用いることにより常温・常圧で合成することに成功した。また,アミンのイソシアニドへの付加反応,1-アルキンのcis-選択的head-to-head二量化反応などにも,希土類金属錯体が高い触媒活性を示すことを見出した。

    チアカリックスアレーン(TC4A- (OH)4)のOH基をSH基やOMe基に変換したTC4A(SH)4やTC4A(OMe)2- (OH)2のほか,独自に合成したTC4A(OH)2(SH)2やTC4A(OMe)2(SH)2を用いて,種々の遷移金属錯体と反応させることにより一連の新規な錯体を合成してその構造を明らかにした。また,チアカリックスアレーンが多核金属錯体を合成するための有用な配位子であるばかりでなく,1つの反応基質を複数の金属により同時あるいは逐次的に活性化する反応場を供給するための優れた配位子となりうることを示している。

    有機ビスムチンを配位子とする一連の新規MoおよびW錯体[CpM- (CO)3(BiR3)][BF4] (Cp = C5H5; M = Mo, W)を合成し,有機ビスムチン配位子と有機ホスフィン配位子の系統的な比較検討を行った。ビスムチン配位子がホスフィン配位子よりも金属への結合相互作用が強いこと,電子供与性が高いこと,配位力の強さがBiCy3 > PCy3 > PPh3 > BiPh3 (Cy = cyclohexyl)の順になっていること,ビスムチンが金属に配位する際には最外殻電子が6s26p3型に近い電子配置からsp3混成に近い構造へと軌道の混成の程度が大きく変化することなどを明らかにした。
