本研究の目的は，有価証券報告書データを構造化データに変換する手法の開発を通じて，データの利用可能性を拡大すること，および新たに構築されたデータベースによって検証可能となった有価証券報告書の情報内容に関する知見を新たに獲得することにある。HTMLやXBRL形式の有価証券報告書データをプログラミングによって構造化データへ変換することが本研究の独自性であり，これにより，有価証券報告書データの利用可能性の向上とそれに伴う科学研究の再現可能性の向上，従来の商用データベースで見落とされていたデータの活用とそれに伴う実証会計研究の深化，将来の財務報告形式に関する示唆が期待できる。
